Et genkendeligt ikon udviklet med inspiration i stedets markante karakter på kanten af havet
“The design of Esbjerg Strand is inspired by the site’s distinctive location at the edge of the sea.” Quote from the master plan for the area, devised by Esbjerg Municipality. Rooted in the basic concept for the area, the aim was to create an architectural icon, which both stands out and interacts strongly with the area’s maritime feel.
The structure of the building is built as a ‘cross shape’ with one lower, two-storey building and a higher, eight-storey building. The lower part opens up with large glass sections facing the waterfront and is designed with a terrace and greenery on the roof. The 8-storey-high office building has a simple, logical plan. The concept involves qualitative workspaces, in which daylight, views and great flexibility in the working zones are the priority. The building’s clear, bright façades on the edge of the wharf have a light, polished concrete surface. With strong references to ship materials, the bright façades are complemented by slats and anodised aluminium mullions, resilient enough to withstand the weather conditions at the harbour. With its distinctive silhouette and the robust, stylish materials, the office building will become a recognisable icon in the overall settlement at Esbjerg Brygge.
