Granly Hockey Arena – the very best experience for spectators
The new hockey arena further develops the concepts at the heart of Blue Water Arena’s gentle, curvaceous idiom, generating a formal synergy that will highlight the characteristic exteriors of the Hockey Arena, Dokken Arena and the Stadium. The white aluminium façade of the arena will allude to the smooth white ice of the rink.
The priority in terms of layout was a clear, simple structure, quickly and easily legible. The building needs to be able to handle lots of people and large crowds. Accordingly, when working on the design of the project we concentrated on optimum flow of people and simple, logical wayfinding from the moment you enter.
Entering through the main entrance at the side of the hall, a large arrival staircase welcomes spectators to the distribution level, providing access to the stands and a wonderful view of the entire hall. All around the hall on this plateau there are retail outlets, conference rooms, access to a lounge and access to the VIP stand. The VIP stand has direct access to the large lounge with space for 450 diners. A transparent lounge will hover between the existing lounge building and the new ice arena, creating great visibility and serving as a cover for the new main entrance to the new ice arena.
The overall spectator capacity is 4,200, including 1,700 standing places.
