Pool & wellness area, Hotel Nyborg Strand
Hotel Nyborg Strand is not only one of Denmark’s biggest conference hotels but also among the most beautifully situated, near the beach and with beautiful views across the Great Belt. Since 1973, where the first drawings for the hotel were created, Friis & Moltke have been responsible for the architectural stages of transformation the hotel has undergone.
The most recent addition is a brand-new pool & wellness area as an extension to the hotel’s lobby. The new section consists of free-standing buildings arranged in a composition with the existing auditorium building, ensuring that the view from the lobby to the park remains unobstructed. The area between the brick buildings consists of a seating area with a fireplace and lounge chairs, where large glass sections allow the natural light to pour in while also providing an unobstructed view of the large and scenic park area.
The hotel’s fundamental architectural vision, which consists of well-defined and angular buildings with open spaces in between has also been adhered to with respect to the new pool area. The common seating area with a fireplace and foot baths is located in the open area as a terrace-like landscape that follows the slope and allows natural light to pour in. The pool & sauna areas are located in the charming brick buildings, the interior walls of which are clad in Swiss granite.
