FRIIS & MOLTKE Design have designed the space planning for the law firm, HjulmandKaptain’s new head office in Aalborg
To underscore the location of the company on the East Harbour with its magnificent view of the Limfjord, light, air, quality and structures were the key words when designing the interiors for the HjulmandKaptain law firm’s new head office in Aalborg.
The wide seating steps that constitute the core of the new head office connect the office area on the 4th floor with the meeting centre on the 5th floor. The staircase core is clad with light wooden slats in warm shades, providing a lovely contrast to the bright rooms and transparent glass surfaces. The slats, with their built-in acoustic regulation, contribute to excellent acoustics in the large space. The decoration of the two floors comes across as bright and modern in simple, durable, high quality materials. In the waiting areas and meeting spaces, the combination of modern art and classic design creates a pleasantly informal atmosphere. The 11 meeting rooms in the meeting centre are all individually designed, though with the emphasis on preserving the character of the interior design as a whole. The subdued colours of the furniture complement the beautiful wooden slats and were carefully chosen to match HjulmandKaptain’s new graphic profile. The unique conference table in the large conference room is made out of recycled azobe wood from an old wharf. Together with the long wharf benches placed on the two roof terraces, they allude to the company’s location on the harbour quay.
