New joint emergency department for Slagelse Hospital, Region Zealand

The overall vision for the new building at Slagelse Hospital is a patient-focused hospital, in which each patient experiences a well-planned course of treatment with the fewest possible relocations, supported by a positive, appropriate physical environment. In terms of patients and relatives, the key words for the attitudes and values, which the physical setting aims to support, are: integrity, respect and privacy.

The building is a three-storey construction with two basement levels. The emergency facilities on the Ground Floor include trauma rooms, triage, 14 emergency rooms, fast track, duty doctor etc. On the 1st floor there are 42 emergency beds, and on the 2nd floor an intensive care department and an emergency cardiology department. The building is attached directly to Slagelse Hospital’s latest extension (from the 1980s) and is an important hub in the expanded emergency hospital.
