Raw plank table in Douglas planks from Dinesen
The Timber plank table was designed in collaboration with the traditional furniture company, Getama, who produce many of Hans Jørgen Wegner’s furniture creations.
The table consists of 2 planks of Douglas fir, provided by Dinesen in Jels, South Jutland. The idea emerged when FRIIS & MOLTKE needed a solid table for their lunch room.
The task of designing the table fell to Mikkel Bahr, an industrial designer in charge of FRIIS & MOLTKE’s design department. The table reflects the architectural practice’s unsentimental approach to carpentry, production and architecture, as in the Brutalism, which was such a feature of FRIIS & MOLTKE’s work in the 1960s and 1970s.
The first tables were commissioned for Skagens Museum. The table is available from Getama’s dealers.
