An exclusive, no-nonsense table based on proud traditions of craftsmanship
Woodwork is an exclusive, no-nonsense table based on proud traditions of craftsmanship. The frame of the table is solid oak and the tabletop is solid plywood with strong, high-pressure laminate on the surface, so the table can withstand everyday impact.
“The inclined legs are the table’s most eye-catching feature, lending the table a nonchalant, cool, everyday character. If you get closer to the table you discover another choice detail: the extremely beautiful finish in the transition from the laminate to the veneer on the tabletop,” says Mikkel Bahr, a designer, architect and partner at FRIIS & MOLTKE.
The inspiration for the table’s structure comes from the classic carpenter’s table, in which two trestles support the table top. In Woodwork the principle is pretty similar, except with a single 4-legged trestle. The legs and supports are tenon-jointed into the frame under the tabletop. It is a familiar joint in classic cabinetmaking, locking the wooden parts firmly together without the need for glue.
